Mariah Carey's Movie May Come Out Before Christmas

It's only March, but it's never too early to start prepping for Christmas. Mariah Carey must agree, because she announced on Tuesday that she's releasing a Christmas movie in 2017. Yes, you heard right. Carey's Christmas classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is the gift that keeps on giving and thus is being turned into an animated movie. If this news is making you squeal with joy, you are most definitely not alone. So when does All I Want For Christmas Is You come out? Her next project is right around the corner.

Carey tweeted the news to her loyal fanbase by quoting lyrics from her iconic song while wearing a flannel onesie and cuddling one of her Jack Russells. In the video clip, she lays on a couch in front of a beautiful Christmas tree. Next to her sits the children's book she wrote in 2015 based on her hit Christmas song, and a roaring log fire makes the room look festive. The film will presumably be based on Carey's book, which tells the story of a young girl who really wants a new puppy for Christmas.

The short video clip that announces the movie version of the best Christmas song of all time ends with the words "Coming Holiday 2017". That's hardly very specific, and, I don't know about you, but I need a better hint as to when exactly Carey's Christmas movie is coming out.

The biggest clue we have so far is Carey's Twitter announcement, which states that the movie is "Coming Holiday 2017". Since her mega hit Christmas song came out on Nov. 1, 1994, it's extremely possible that the movie will mirror this release date.

Another clue is the release date of the children's book, All I Want For Christmas Is You. Carey's book was released by Penguin Random House on Nov. 10, 2015, suggesting that the movie version could appear around a similar date in 2017. It would make sense for the movie and book versions to tie in closely with one another, as readers of the book will love the movie. However, the movie is likely to draw in even more of Carey's fans, who want to support her work.

Other Christmas projects, like Netflix's A Very Murray Christmas, have come out at the start of December, but early November is typically when Christmas movies drop. For instance, Will Ferrell's Elf, which is the ultimate Christmas movie in my opinion, came out on Nov. 7, 2003.

Fans of Carey will have to wait until closer to the festive season to find out when her new movie is coming out, though early November looks plausible. Until then, you can follow the All I Want For Christmas twitter feed for very important updates.
