When you're first getting to know someone, you may not have much information to draw from to figure out
the best date to go on with them. But one thing you can find out right away is their birthday — and that can give you valuable information, according to Deborah Graham, astrologer, star of , and author of TLC's Psychic Matchmaker . Get Your Head Out of Your App: A Psychic's Guide to Attracting and Keeping True Love Someone's astrological sign says a lot about what kind of outing they'll enjoy and appreciate, she tells Bustle.
Being thoughtful about your first date choice can help you stand out among your love interest's suitors. "Take them to something that would energetically connect with them, and they'll be like, 'wow, this is different from the last 10 people I went out with.... have you been in my head?" Graham says. "When you connect with that person beyond the normal 'hi, how are you, my name is Jack and I like boating and diving,' you're stimulating that person's brain. You're stimulating that persons psyche. You're
stimulating that person's energy, and you're getting in touch with your own energy."
The same way
Graham reads the metaphysical energy of her clients, she can look at an astrological chart and determine what kind of energy people with that sign have. That's how she figured out the date activities that will please and charm each sign. Here they are.
Aries (March 21 - April 19) : A Hot Air Balloon Ride
Aries like to be up in the air, so they'll enjoy hot air balloon and helicopter rides. But since those options can be logistically difficult and unaffordable, a restaurant at a high elevation should do it.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20): A Walk, Hike, Or Picnic
Tauruses "need to have their hands in the earth and be connected with nature," says Graham, so an outdoor date will endear them to you.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Coffee
Gemini are easily distracted, so don't take them anywhere busy, says Graham. To make the date romantic, try a nice café with live music or a French bakery.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22): A Petting Zoo
Cancers are animal lovers and want to connect with their primal instincts, so take them someplace with animals. If you really want to get fancy, you can go horseback riding or snorkeling.
Leo (July 23 - Aug. 22): A Show
"You need to get their energy moving by something fun, exciting and interactive," says Graham. "Whatever it is, music needs to be involved." A concert, musical, ballet, or opera could fulfill those criteria.
Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22): The Farmers' Market
"They will pay attention to your every move," says Graham, so pick an interactive, outdoor setting where you can watch each other closely, like a fair, barbecue, or food festival.
Libra (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22): An Upscale Restaurant
Libras need a quiet, intimate setting where you can make eye contact. Try a nice restaurant, wine bar, or poetry reading.
Scorpio (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21): Go Cart Racing
Scorpios are passionate and will appreciate something "fast and furious" like go carts or even race cars, says Graham.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21): Mini Golf
Sagittariuses love to be outside and appreciate a good laugh, so they'll enjoy mini-golf or an outdoor comedy show.
Capricorn (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19): Dancing
Disciplined, hard-working capricorns need to get out and loosen up once in a while. They'll start to think of you as someone who can help you relax if you take them dancing.
Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18): Water Sports
Aside from the obvious — the
Aquarius symbol is a water carrier — Aquariuses like adventure and need to be stimulated, so a movie won't cut it, says Graham. She suggests paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, or surfing.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20): An Unusual Dining Experience
Pisces are artistic and creative, so put a twist on the dinner date by going out for hot pot, fondue, or wine and painting.
Don't do these things just to impress your date if you don't like them, too, says Graham, or else they'll feel manipulated. But if you'll also enjoy it, following these guidelines can calm first-date nerves, she says, because you'll be doing something they can connect to. Sounds like a win-win.
