Details are still emerging about a former Bachelor star's arrest. Chris Soules was charged with allegedly fleeing the scene after a fatal car crash near Aurora, Iowa on Monday, April 24. (Soules' rep did not return Bustle's request for comment at the time of publication.) According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, based on Iowa code section 321.261 (4), Soules, who is from Arlington, IA, is charged with an allegedly class "d" felony. This charge can carry a maximum sentence of up to five years and $7500 in fines for non-habitual offenders, according to Iowa state law.
UPDATE: On Tuesday, attorneys Sean Spellman and Molly Spellman released a statement to JustJared about the incident. "Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher’s family,” it read.
UPDATE #2: Audio released by the Buchanan County Sheriff's department shows that Chris Soules called 911 in regards to the accident.

Rather, they will be focusing on presenting the truth, which will reveal how inaccurate and unfair so many of these news accounts have been. We are confident that the fair-minded citizens of Iowa will do what they’ve always done – reserve judgment until all of the accurate information is properly presented."
EARLIER: A press release Bustle received from the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office states "one fatality has been confirmed" after an incident in which a pickup truck and a tractor collided. News 7 KWWL in Iowa reports that a pickup truck rear-ended a tractor resulting in the death of one person after both cars wound up in a ditch. The identities of those involved in the crash have not yet been revealed.
TMZ reports that Soules was allegedly driving the pickup truck. The tractor driver was taken in an ambulance to the hospital, where he later died. State Patrol told KWWL Soules allegedly left his truck in the ditch and left. Court documents obtained by KWWL say "alcoholic beverages or containers were at the scene of the deadly crash," but no further information about the beverages or containers has been released.

Soules was arrested at 1:16 a.m., according to People magazine. KWWF reports that he made his first court appearance on Tuesday, April 25. Soules' preliminary hearing is reportedly scheduled for May 2.
Soules is best known for appearing on Season 19 of ABC's romantic reality show, The Bachelor, and Season 10 of its spinoff, The Bachelorette.
