What's Coming To Netflix In April 2017 Will Delight Your Inner Child
What with Netflix and chill, the streaming service has all the content you could ask for to keep your adult self happy. But I'm here to tell you that what's coming to Netflix in April 2017 will delight your inner child as well. We're talking nostalgic classics like Homeward Bound, Cool Runnings, and An American Tail — which I'm pretty sure that, when taken as a group, will make you feel the full range of human emotions. If you watch them in a row, you can weep, laugh, and reminisce all in the same day. Just remember to take breaks for meals and hydration, because all that feeling will really take a lot out of you. We're not as young as we once were.
But the benefit of growing up is that you get to do exactly what you want at any given moment, even (or especially) if it's blowing off your responsibilities to spend some quality time with your good friends couch and Netflix. They'll be there for you no matter what, so pour yourself a glass of wine — put it in a sippy cup if you're interested in extending this metaphor — and kick back with one of the options on this list of movies and TV shows hitting Netflix in April 2017.
2) 'Across The Universe'
I won't tell anyone if you belt along with this Beatles-themed jukebox musical from the comfort of your own living room. (April 1)
3) 'An American Tail'
The story of Fievel Mousekewitz and his family emigrating from Russia will take you right back to your childhood, and as a bonus, the story actually holds up. (April 1)
4) 'An American Tail: Fievel Goes West'
Continue your Fievel fix by following the Mousekewitz family across the United States to the Wild West, though all the hijinks that you've come to expect. (Or that you probably still remember, if this movie was as big a part of your childhood as it was of mine.) (April 1)
5) 'An American Tail: The Mystery of the Night Monster'
And finally, wrap up your Mousekewitz fix with the fourth and final film in the series — I know you lost your VHS copy years ago and have been mourning it ever since. (April 1)
6) 'Cool Runnings'
Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it's time to watch this classic comedy about the Jamaican bobsled team. (April 1)
7) 'Gremlins'
You're an adult now, so you can watch this black comedy whenever and wherever you want. Just make sure not to get them wet! (April 1)
8) 'Scooby-Doo'
Can someone get the gang to help solve the case of why this live-action remake hasn't been on Netflix until now? (April 1)
9) 'Schindler’s List'
Alright, so it isn't the the feel-good film that some of the rest on this list are, but it's important to throw some heartbreaking Oscar-winning behemoths in there as well, just to keep things rounded out. (April 1)
10) 'Something’s Gotta Give'
This Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton originally came out in 2003, and the novelty of seeing a man over 40 paired with a costar his own age still hasn't worn off. (April 1)
11) 'Thunderstruck'
The name may be out of date ever since Kevin Durant moved from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Golden State Warriors, but there's still plenty to love in this film about a young boy who accidentally switches talents with his hero. (April 1)
12) 'Tropic Thunder'
A group of diva actors is dropped into a jungle to learn how to fend for themselves and more convincingly play soldiers in Vietnam. Hilarity ensues. (April 1)
13) 'Trouble With The Curve'
A sports film about an aging baseball scout played by Clint Eastwood and his daughter, played by Amy Adams. And Justin Timberlake swimming around shirtless ain't too bad either. (April 1)
14) 'Louis C.K. 2017'
Pretty much on board for anything Louis C.K. wants to kick my way, I'm so very interested to see the original standup specials that he'll be releasing directly to Netflix. (April 4)

Reignite your childhood spark of imagination with the live-action remake of Roald Dahl's big, friendly classic children's book. (April 6)

Baz Luhrmann's musical drama series created just for Netflix returns with more episodes in April, to give audiences another glimpse at the beginnings of hip-hop. (April 7)

Kubo may be down to one eye in this lush, complex, stop-motion adventure, but he also has magical skills, so I think things might turn out alright for our hero. (April 8)

Have you ever seen a spy movie and a stand-up comedy special mash-up before? Well, now is your chance, and it's brought to you by — who else? — Kevin Hart. (April 11)

Love her or hate her, you always know Chelsea Handler is going to give it to you straight, so expect nothing less from her second season of Chelsea when the talk show premieres on Netflix. (April 12)

Comedy and science make the perfect combination, so I'm delighted to see that Netflix is rebooting the classic Mystery Science Theater 3000 to bring us even more truly mad content. (April 14)
23) 'Sandy Wexler'
There's nothing more nostalgic than an Adam Sandler movie; it takes you right back. And whether Netflix original movie Sandy Wexler lives up to the high expectations and standards set with classics like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison or not, it also stars Jennifer Hudson, and you really can't go wrong with that. (April 14)

28) 'The Great British Baking Show: Masterclass'
Please welcome to Netflix Seasons 1-3 of The Great British Baking Show: Masterclass, in which the original series' judges walk viewers through past challenges. In the words of the great Mary Berry herself, this news is absolutely scrummy. (April 22)
