'The Bachelor' Women Need To Leave Corinne Alone

by Alaina Urquhart-White

Let's all just take a second and agree on something here. Not all of us (or probably even most of us) want to clean up animal poop on a farm. Sure, there are some people who revel in farm life and the chores that come with it, but there are also people who don't choose that job. This week, the producers of The Bachelor thought it would be a good idea to make the women legitimately shovel poop for Nick's affections. Of course, Corinne was not exactly into this whole thing and she got some major (pretty unwarranted) flak from the other ladies about it, which was the topic of this week's installment of Bustle's Bachelor podcast. Because, however you may feel about her, Corinne doesn't deserve to be bullied by The Bachelor contestants.

On this episode of Will You Accept This Podcast? (which you can listen to here), Kelsea Stahler was at Sundance, so Bustle Deputy Editor Rosanne Salvatore joined Romper Senior News and Entertainment Editor Allison Piwowarski to talk all things Bachelor and Corinne. And, Kelsea sent in a letter all the way from Utah to talk about how, sure, Corinne is a grown woman with a nanny who falls asleep during rose ceremonies. No one here is trying to say that she's a favorite to win. She's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but that doesn't mean she deserves to be ganged up on by the other 14 women in the house. We shouldn't be hating so much on Corinne for simply being who she is. (Also, not wanting to shovel poop doesn't make her a bad person, it makes her a normal person.)

One of the main concerns that the woman all had about Corinne was the fact that they have all stayed awake during the rose ceremonies and participated in the farm date, but Corinne took a nap and sat out the poop-shoveling extravaganza. Honestly, all of those women are acting like they had no choice in any of these matters. If they didn't want to shovel poop, then they could have stayed out of it too. Nick doesn't seem like he's planning a future life as a farmer, so I doubt very much he uses it as a barometer of who his wife should be. They all had a choice of whether or not to participate. Corinne is the only one who actually stood up for herself and said that she wouldn't do something that she didn't want to do. And like she said herself, "Abe Lincoln took naps." So, she won that part of the argument too.

Jokes aside, it's not like she is going to be around forever. Nick knows better, he knows he's looking for long term and that Corinne is really just fun for now. Bashing her is only going to make the other women look bad. Also, this is really Nick's deal. If he chooses her in the end, then that's what he was looking for in a wife. Does it really affect anyone else? Not in the long run, so let the girl nap.
