Gigi Hadid Is The New Face Of Topshop, Takes Over The Gig For Cara Delevingne
As Cara Delevingne transfers her career over to the acting world, her modeling campaigns are left in need of new talent. In the latest instance, Gigi Hadid is taking over as the new face of Topshop's fall campaign — the campaign that was previously devoted to Cara. The 20-year-old Malibu model stars solo in the brand's grungy, hip ads for the upcoming season. She sports everything from athletic wear to preppy school girl miniskirts to rocker thigh-high boots and moto jackets. If there was any campaign that shows off how versatile Hadid's look is, it's this one.
Hadid has walked on many designer runways, but before landing Max Mara earlier this year, her ad campaigns were limited to brands like Victoria's Secret PINK and Guess. The blonde bombshell image (one frequently sported by the likes of Kate Upton and Erin Heatherton ) was Hadid's default casting for the past few years. Luckily, Hadid's stepped up to break that mold, and this Topshop campaign is just another example of her strides to do so.
The campaign shot by Tyrone Lebon and styled by creative director Kate Phelan will launch in stores, print, and online this month. It will be featured internationally in all Topshop locations.
“Working with Gigi Hadid on this campaign continues to strengthen our international vision for the Topshop brand,” Sir Philip Green told Style.com. “We are continually developing our footprint across all markets with ambitious plans both in the U.K. and internationally, and I feel like Gigi is an ideal ambassador to underpin these efforts.”
With that being said, these ads are also perfect for some pre-fall catalogue shopping — with vintage high-waisted jeans and velvet dresses, how could they not? The outfits are very Kate Moss '90s-esque, and Hadid serves the role well. The model of the moment has mighty shoes to fill, but I think Cara would agree that she's living up to her potential so far. Needless to say, I hope Hadid fronts this campaign for many seasons to come.
