On Monday, Aug. 3, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's 22-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was buried in Westfield, New Jersey. Bobbi Kristina was laid to rest next to her mother and maternal grandfather, John Russell Houston, at Fairview Cemetery. In addition to close family and friends, many fans showed up to honor Brown, after she tragically died on July 26. According to Reuters, fans stood behind police barricades (the media was banned from the gravesite), where they paid their respects with kind and loving words for Brown, in addition to holding pictures of Brown and Houston.
One 21-year-old fan told Reuters, "I wanted to show support to the Houston family and for Whitney Houston. I was here three years ago for Whitney Houston." Another 43-year-old fan said, "I have three daughters around the same age as Bobbi Kristina. That could have been any one of my daughters. We feel like we are part of the family."
Even Entertainment Tonight host and friend of the Houston family Kevin Frazier commented and told Reuters, "This wasn't a celebrity funeral. This was a little girl and they [the family] can't understand why we're back here so soon. It was sad, it was heartbreaking, nothing like anybody should ever experience."
In January 2015, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in her bathtub and soon after she was placed in a medically induced coma. Then, in June 2015, she was placed in hospice care, where she eventually died at the young age of 22. No cause of death has been determined yet, but the Fulton County, Georgia Medical Examiner's Office said of the preliminary autopsy results that "The autopsy does not show an obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted. No previously unknown medical conditions that could have contributed to death were identified."
