Where Can I Get Chipotle Carnitas?

In case you didn't hear the groundbreaking, game-changing news yesterday, carnitas is finally back at Chipotle, ending a months-long dry spell that saddened burrito lovers across the nation. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows, unfortunately; in slightly more disappointing news, not all Chipotle locations across the country have it right now. In case you're wondering, "Where can I get Chipotle carnitas?", fear not, though! In this guide, you'll be able to learn whether your state has it, doesn't have it, or only has a smattering of locations serving it. You're welcome.

If you haven't been keeping up with the Chipotle carnitas saga, here's a quick brief: Earlier this year, the beloved burrito chain learned that the company supplying their pork didn't meet Chipotle's standards for animal welfare. As a company, Chipotle only supports pasture raised animals that don't have added hormones and are free of antibiotics. Finding a supplier to take over was incredibly difficult for the company, since, according to Chipotle's website, 95 percent of pigs are raised "conventionally" in the United States.

Fortunately, after many months of searching, Chipotle found a new supplier — the UK-based Karro Food — allowing most of us to enjoy this treat once again. But before you get too excited, remember that while carnitas is available without limit in 37 states plus Washington, D.C., it isn't available everywhere. You can find all the details you need via a handy map on Chipotle's website — but in the meantime, if you live in these places, you might be out of luck.

Limited Availability

1. Florida

You can get carnitas in all locations across Florida, except Destin. Sorry, Destin.

2. New York

You can get carnitas anywhere in New York except: Amherst, Cheektowaga, Hamburg, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Tonawanda, Webster, and Williamsville.

3. Ohio

If you live anywhere in Central or Southern Ohio, you're good to go; if you live anywhere else in Ohio, though, alas, carnitas has not yet come to you.

4. Pennsylvania

If you live in Altoona, Canonsburg, Cranberry Township, East Liberty, Erie, Greensburg, Hermitage, Indiana, Monroeville, Pittsburgh, State College, and Wexford, you're out of luck. Better go somewhere else to find your carnitas fix.

No Availability

1. South Dakota

At least y'all have... Mount Rushmore?

2. The Carolinas

But at least North Carolina residents can drive up to Virginia.

3. Georgia

Sorry, land of sweet peaches and midnight trains — no carnitas for you yet.

4. Alabama

I've been progressively going more and more west, but don't worry, Alabama is the last of it.

5. Tennessee

You're still the only 10 I see.

6. Kentucky

At least you all can cope by drinking your main export, whiskey.

But! These availability issues are by no means permanent, and the company is working on getting carnitas back to every single restaurant in the country. For now, though, we can all at least take a breath of relief that the delicious protein is back.
