Tina Fey Has A New Show
As if we didn’t have enough to look forward to with Sisters, the movie starring every smart girl’s comedy dream team, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: It was announced Saturday that CBS is developing a new television pilot from Tina Fey and her Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt co-creator, Robert Carlock. While this is amazing news, Whether or not Fey will star in the show hasn’t been discussed, though — in fact, as of now, there are only a few initial details: We only know Fey and Carlock wrote the show with 30 Rock writer and producer Jack Burditt, and that it was recently picked up by CBS. The show is still unnamed, but it reportedly revolves around a retired athlete who, bored and without anything to do, returns home and drives his family and friends totally nuts.
Sounds perfect for Fey and her amazing team, right? Fey and Carlock have already worked together on a number of projects, including 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. And Burditt you might know from Last Man Standing— he was the creator of the Fox hit, and also an executive producer for 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
In other words, this trio is a comedy force to be reckoned with.
But, even with the few details there are about the new show, I’m already starting to speculate about whether Fey will star in the new television pilot, or just remain behind-the-scenes. Most of her recent projects have been off-screen, but with Sisters on its way to the theaters, I think it’s about time we see more of Fey on screen.
Or, at least, that's what I am secretly wishing for in my dream journal every night. Until I get word otherwise, I have a few pretty well thought out arguments for why Fey should star in the new series:
She Doesn’t Have Any Current Acting Gigs
According to IMDb, Fey is as free as a bird when it comes to acting responsibilities. Once she wraps up press for Sisters and Fun House (which, by the way, is in post-production), there don't seem to be other acting roles that Fey has signed onto.
She Would Be Awesome In It
Everything Fey touches turns to comedy gold — that goes without saying. But, the fact that the show is a family comedy is even more reason for Fey to star in it: She’s incredible at playing family drama. Have you seen This Is Where I Leave You? Or the trailer for Sisters ? Dysfunctional families are Fey’s bread and butter.
Amy Poehler Is Returning To Television
Not that it’s a competition or anything, but Poehler is returning to television — SO SHOULD FEY. Specifically, Poehler is currently signed on to produce the new pilot named Dumb Prince .
So, Fey, if you’re reading this, do us all a favor and say you’ll star in this new series. We all need you in our lives on a more regular basis.
