Gwyneth Paltrow Freaked Out Meeting This Celeb
It's good to know that even A-list celebrities can become starstruck. Those grocery store magazines are right — stars, they really are just like us! This past weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow was left tongue-tied and lost for words after running into her own personal icon. According to an Instagram post she made public on Friday, the lifestyle guru and Goop aficionado Gwyneth Paltrow met Oprah Winfrey at the Power of Women lunch, and reacted like any normal human being would: She lost her freaking mind.
Gwyneth Paltrow attended Variety' s 2015 Power of Women luncheon with television host Amanda de Cadet as her date. The lunch was a star-studded event held at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hotel that celebrated megawatt celebrities' philanthropic work. Superstars like Anna Kendrick, Selma Hayek, and Ava DuVernay were all in attendance — but there was one special guest Paltrow couldn't wait to see, and that was Ms. Queen of Daytime Television and the kick-ass boss lady herself, Oprah Winfrey.
My mind can barely begin to guess what the two superstars discussed when they met. Did they talk about the disparaging gender gaps occurring today, perhaps? Or their latest humanitarian efforts? Maybe they had an in-depth conversation about their favorite Voice contestant? I need to know more about their meeting. Paltrow and Winfrey hanging out is like two supernovas colliding in the night sky — the star wattage cannot be contained!
Thankfully, Paltrow understood my incessant need to know more and posted about the meeting on Instagram. Paltrow shared a gorgeous selfie with the world of the two powerful women, captioned, "I'm s****-ing in paaaaants!!!!!!!!!!" While not the most elegant of reactions, it is probably exactly how I would react if I ever met Oprah. I mean, come on — It's freaking Oprah!
When meeting one's idol or any person with high star wattage — it's a delicate balance between showing your affection, not being a total creep, and keeping full control of your wits. Hopefully, next time I meet a celebrity, I can be more like Paltrow — still freaking out, but doing it in a "cool way" because Paltrow is the best. You keep doing you, Gwyn!
