October has been a huge month for Selena Gomez. Not only did the 23-year-old reveal she was diagnosed with lupus, but her new album Revival was released. Now, Selena Gomez has opened up about her friendship with Kerry Washington. Did you know that Gomez and Washington are friends? I had no idea. This is just like that time I learned the singer/actress bakes pizzas with Jennifer Aniston. Yes, I'm still jealous about her BFF-status with Rachel Green, not to mention even more jealous Gomez hangs with Olivia Pope. As she told Refinery29 about both Aniston and Washington, "I treasure these women. I'd rather be around women than men. I think they are interesting, complicated, and beautiful."
Washington and Gomez didn't become friends until this year. Funnily enough, Washington sought out Gomez at the 2015 Met Ball and gave the young star her phone number just in case she ever needed to talk. Add that to the list of reasons to be envious of the Hotel Transylvania 2 actress. I already knew the Scandal star is amazing, but she just became even more stellar.
Washington spoke with Refinery29 about Gomez and gushed, "I love her so much! I'm so proud of her. I think she's just such an elegant young woman — she's so filled with grace and poise and intelligence and generosity. She's just a real girl, you know?"
Well, I think we have a new celebrity friendship on our hands. Now, all that Scandal needs to do is cast Gomez in some kind of role. After all, she loves the show and considers herself a Gladiator, as all die-hard Scandal fans do. I mean, Gomez is definitely at Gladiator status, don't you think? Check it out:
She Speaks Her Mind
Gomez is very honest and isn't afraid to speak her mind, which is both admirable and Olivia Pope-worthy. Regarding her breakup with Justin Bieber, she told Refinery29, "Of course I got my heart broken. Of course I was pissed about it." See? She is both open and honest.
She Handles Rumors
When isn't she making headlines and surrounded by rumors, especially when it comes to her ex-boyfriend? At least she can handle them gracefully. She told Refinery29 about Bieber,
At this point, there is no anger. There's closure in a very good, healthy way. We’ve seen each other. I'm always encouraging and I am proud of his journey. I think people are making it out to be something that is more tragic than it really was. We grew up together. We both made mistakes. That's it.
Gladiators must be able to handle anything and everything, which Gomez has proven she's more than capable of doing.
