Little Mix's "Secret Love Song" Features Jason Derulo & Their Mutual Appreciation Promises This Track Will Slay

There’s something magic that happens when two of your favorite artists sing together. (See: Beyonce and Drake, Taylor Swift and John Legend, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce.) Naturally, when Little Mix announced Jason Derulo will be on “Secret Love Song,” a track from their upcoming album Get Weird, I freaked out.

There isn’t a single weak link in the vocal flawlessness known as Little Mix and Derulo’s voice is pretty spectacular as well. He’s known for his radio-ready dance hits, which makes him a perfect fit for the upbeat, self-assured vibe of Get Weird. It’s admittedly an unexpected collaboration, but one that can’t go wrong.

We don’t know a lot about the track, other than it’s the fourth song on the upcoming album. However, it’s safe to say that all of the vocals will be super strong, as we’ve come to expect from the artists. We also don’t know exactly how this collaboration came about, but I have one theory as to the start of it.

Earlier this year, Little Mix put a fierce spin on Derulo’s “Want to Want Me.” Shazam Top 20 captured the singer’s reaction to hearing the cover, including him rocking out and saying, “I was into that, man.” It sounded like Derulo wasn’t too familiar with Little Mix before that point, but they were clearly on his radar after that.

In just a few short months, the girls went from dropping an insane acapella cover of “Want to Want Me” to actually hitting the studio with Derulo. We don’t know the details, but it’s fair to say that they won him over with their undeniable vocal talent. Just seeing the look on Derulo’s face as he heard the cover says it all.

A key component to a strong collaboration is mutual respect between artists. Little Mix clearly loved Derulo’s song enough to break it down into a fresh and heartfelt cover. His reaction shows that the appreciation is mutual — and even if this wasn’t the exact moment the collaboration began, it laid the foundation for an amazing song.

Get Weird drops on November 6, but in the meantime, you can watch Derulo's reaction to Little Mix's cover in the video below.
