6 Times Taylor Swift Was So '80s This Year
You’ve officially been playing this album on repeat for a solid year as of today. That’s right, it’s been one year since Taylor Swift’s 1989 was released, so can we all pause for a moment of silence to honor this great musical milestone? Umm, of course. Not only does T. Swift kill it musically, but she also kills in terms of style. She even occasionally rocks an ‘80s-esque look, and since 1989 is pretty much the best year (simply because the album was titled after it), I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this first birthday than by seeing how Swift so fashionably channels the '80s.
Metallic garb, clothing covered in sequins and volumized hair were all fashionable during the '80s, and despite Swift’s more classic, red-lip kind of style, she’s rocked a retro, ‘80s-inspired getup a few times. Several of her red carpet ensembles and concert outfits were influenced by the decade, and honestly, that makes perfect sense, because no era knew how to bring the party quite like this one did.
Check out six times that Swift’s looks were a blast from the past in honor to celebrate the greatest year and the greatest album. Happy Birthday, 1989! You are still loved, even to this day.
I'll be listening to this. All. Day. Long.
1. Houndstooth Co-Ord
Doesn't she look like an '80s business woman?
2. Concert-Ready
Metallic jacket and sunglasses? Yep, she's channeling the decade with this look.
3. Vibrant Romper
I know what decade inspired this bright blue onesie and textured hair.
4. Mega Volume
She's looks great with a little added volume and rock 'n roll liner.
5. Seeing Sequins
Big hair and shimmer from sequins is quite fitting for an '80s-inspired ensemble.
6. Embellished Romper
This embellished jumpsuit is a great recreation of '80s fashion.
She looks amazing in these outfits, but I'm a little preoccupied because 1989 got me like...
You know how it is.
