Carly Rae Jepsen Sings About Christmas

by Amy Mackelden

Nothing gets me ready for the festive season better than a perfect Christmas tune. And news that Carly Rae Jepsen tweeted on Thursday suggests that there might be a contender to Mariah Carey's Christmas anthem throne. Jepsen recently released the video for her latest single "Your Type", and, super early on Thursday, she tweeted a photo of the artwork for Jepsen's cover version of "Last Christmas" by Wham! I don't know about you, but I've not been this excited about a Christmas tune since Kelly Clarkson's yuletide album. Carly Rae Jepsen's album EMO TION is all kinds of amaze, so I have high hopes for this Christmas classic as covered with Jepsen's unique retro vibe.

"Last Christmas" is a popular song to cover, previously recorded by several other musicians including Jimmy Eat World and Ariana Grande. Jepsen's current kitsch and blatant love of the '80s pop sound is sure to make her cover stand out. According to Jepsen's tweet, her cover version is due out on Nov. 20, and I couldn't be more excited that we get to hear this slice of Christmas oh so very soon. Jepsen's release must mean it's almost time to put up the Christmas tree and get the mulled wine ready, which is amazing news.

There are many reasons that Jepsen's cover version of Wham!'s "Last Christmas" will be a perfect experience. Here are just a few of the reasons I can't wait.

1. She Loves Christmas

Anyone that records a Christmas song is worthy of my love. Just sayin'.

2. She Makes The Best Music Videos

Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber in the same video? I literally cannot cope.

3. Her Dancing Is On Fleek

What every Christmas song needs is a choreographed dance routine.

4. She's Got Christmas Style Down

Red outfit? Check. Red lips? Check. Red set? Check. We're good to go, people. Now all we need is a famous friend dressed up in a Santa costume. And, you know, for this song to hit Spotify, like, now.
