You Need This Sneaker Brand In Your Fall Wardrobe

by Marc Cuenco

Growing up, all the cool kids at my school either wore the Converse Chuck Taylors or the Vans Authentic sneakers. I didn't feel "edgy" enough to wear Chucks in junior high, but I did convince my parents to buy me my first pair of Vans in seventh grade. I have such fond memories of those comfy canvas kicks, so finding out that Vans is still one of the world's bestselling shoes didn't shock me at all. However, I was a little surprised that it did so well this year despite facing really stiff competition from celeb-backed footwear brands like Adidas and PUMA.

According to Forbes magazine, Vans will reportedly earn $2.3 billion in 2015, which increased from last year's $2 billion in sales. That's quite an impressive feat for a 49-year-old company that didn't release the sold-out Yeezy Boost 350s or the equally coveted Rihanna Creepers. Having said that, both Kanye and Rihanna are just two names in the growing list of celebrities who wear Vans, because these shoes are classics that truly go with any style.

That said, it's not like Vans also sat back and let the other footwear brands have all the fun. The company took part in pretty amazing collaborations in the last 12 months, including the limited edition Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami line, teaming up with Nasty Gal, and the fantastic Disney Vans collection.

In honor of Vans' successful year, here are five must-haves that everyone should include in their holiday wish list:
