As you probably heard, on Wednesday, Teresa Guidice was released from prison after serving almost 12 months for fraud. Well, now the Real Housewives of New Jersey star is officially home and reunited with her family in what can be described as emotional and happy. That said, Teresa's reunion with her husband Joe Giudice and their four daughters also presented somewhat of a conundrum — at least to me. According to People, "Joe gifted [Teresa] a brand, new black Lexus SUV, which was waiting in the driveway with a big red bow when she pulled up."
At first you might be thinking, "What a great husband! I want one." Let his present sink in for a moment. OK, now you're probably thinking, "Wait, what? Didn't they declare bankruptcy in 2010 and are now serving time for fraud?" Yes, you are correct, which is why Joe giving Teresa a fancy new car is extremely confusing. Per an article originally published in April 2014 on NJ.com, "the couple only satisfied $7,500 of their debts and still owe $13.4 million to their creditors." Need I say more?
Whatever the logistics, there's no arguing that the Giudices have had and still appear to be in major financial trouble. Plus, they were both charged with multiple counts of fraud. Oh, and let's not forget that Joe doesn't have a license, meaning while Teresa was in prison family and friends helped Joe and the girls out with rides. Joe also rode his bike around town. How do you buy a car without a license? So many questions, so little answers.
Until answers are provided, here are a few explanations that might put all of this into perspective.
1. Joe & Melissa Gorga Helped Out
Teresa's brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Melissa Gorga, have tried to remain close to the Giudices ever since Teresa went off to prison. So, maybe, just maybe, they decided to help Joe out by giving Teresa a fancy, new, ridiculously expensive car.
2. Lisa Vanderpump Shipped It
If Lisa Vanderpump can ship miniature horses across the country, she can ship a car. It's no secret that Vanderpump has a huge heart, so there's a possibility she wanted to lend Joe a helping hand in surprising his wife her first day out of prison.
3. Joe's Bike Saved Him A Ton Of Money
Do you know how much gas money Joe saved while riding his bike around town? I don't know either, but I'm going with a lot. Hey, gas can be pricey and when you're choosing the eco-friendly route (or because you have no other choice), I bet you save a ton of money.
4. He Won A Christmas Raffle
The holidays are a time of giving, so maybe Joe entered a Christmas raffle and won a Lexus? Yeah, doubtful, but you never know.
5. There Was A Lot Of Cash Under His Mattress
Just like many did during the Great Depression, Joe might not trusts the bank anymore and chooses to stash money under his mattress. He must have A LOT of cash under there.
6. Bravo Felt Super Generous
You know Bravo is loving all of this publicity surround Joe and Teresa serving time in prison. Not only do they get to create specials around it, but I'm sure Teresa's homecoming was also filmed (hello, there's a camera next to Joe). Whenever a new RHONJ season begins, if Teresa is a part of it, Bravo is going to be getting ever more viewers than usual. So, maybe Bravo either felt super generous and gave Teresa a brand new car or decided the presentation of a car from Joe to Teresa would be ratings gold.
However Joe was able to get his hands on a Lexus, there's no doubt Teresa is going to be driving around in style. Merry Christmas, indeed.
