What's In Karrueche Tran x ColourPop? There Are '90s Neutral Lipsticks & More!
2016 is kicking off with some monster celeb makeup collabos. There's Ariana Grande x MAC VIVAGLAM and Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay. But those are big ticket brands and celebs. Now, L.A.-based, indie makeup brand ColourPop Cosmetics and Karrueche Tran have teamed up for a collection, dubbed "KaePop." The range is extensive, including eye shadows and Kylie Lip Kit-like matte lipsticks. The color palette is largely warm, but there are a few exceptions. Even better, the products are under $10 a piece and the entire collection is available for $72.
Let's break down what's available and why the custom KaePop range is awesome.
Tran is a model, actress, and celebutante best known (until now) for being Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend in between his Rihanna relationships. But Tran is also a philanthropist whose is donating a portion of the collection's proceeds to her environmental organization, she's stunning, and her star is on the rise. So let's focus on that!
ColourPop is an up and coming cosmetics brand that garnered some press last year due to its Jaime King collabo and when the blogosphere suggested that Kylie Jenner's $29 Lip Kits were repackaged and repriced with the ColourPop formula. Jenner refuted those claims and even visited the ColourPop labs, giving the brand a publicity boost, for sure.
Bustle reached out to the brand that launched the Lip Kits for comment; we'll update if/when we hear back.
Now, the brand is aligning with a new and exciting face with Tran and for a killer collection.
"I have always loved makeup and experimenting with fun new shades and techniques," Tran said in a press release. "I am excited that ColourPop and I have joined forces to create a collection benefitting an important organization in my life, the Environmental Media Association. My collection KaePop includes 10 high-quality, environmentally safe, and affordable products inspired by my everyday beauty must haves!"
So what are these "everyday beauty must haves" with Tran inspo?
It includes four Super Shock matte shadows ($5) in lots of neutral and wearable colors, like Crenshaw (medium brown matte), Wilshire (light warm beige matte), Beverly (burgundy matte), and Sunset Blvd (sheer gold). There are three Ultra Matte lipsticks ($6) with coordinating lip pencils, as well. They come in Chi (nude), Kae (brown), and Rooch (deep burgundy). Two of those sound similar to the kurrent Lip Kit kolors, but since those are impossible to find, these could be perfectly suitable dupes.
Add a blush in Flush'd (peach), a warm highlighter in Glo Up, and a warm bronzer in Bronze Me ($8) and voila! You have all the tools for a full face.
The KaePop range will be available on Friday, Jan. 22. It will be sold exclusively via the Colour Pop site.
