Angelina Skips The Golden Globes For A Good Reason

The night is finally here! The 2016 Golden Globes are upon us and it is a glorious night for TV and movie fans all over the world. It's one of the best nights of the year in Hollywood when some of the top talent of the entertainment industry gather in one room. However, there will be several missing faces this Sunday night, including a three-time Golden Globe winner, which will have her fans asking, "Where is Angelina Jolie during the Golden Globes?"

As wonderful as it would be to see Jolie walk the red carpet and show off that infamous leg pose she struck at the 2012 Academy Awards, she is busy in Cambodia filming a new project and spending time with her family. I mean, would you expect anything less? She clearly has more important things to be doing than partaking in the debauchery and madness of the beloved awards show.

Jolie has been joined by Brad Pitt and their family in Cambodia, where they are filming First they Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia. The memoir is based on author and human rights activist Loung Ung about the brutal Khmer Rouge regime of the 1970s. The Pitt-Jolie children have accompanied them during filming. Maddox is helping with research and Pax is taking still shots, and Jolie has said the experience is an important journey for Maddox, who is Cambodian-born.

As she told the Associated Press in November 2015, this film project is very important to her and her family. "[Maddox] is my son, but he is also a son of Cambodia. This is the time for our family to understand all that means to him and us. My desire to tell this story in the most truthful and accurate way possible will be my tribute to the strength and dignity of all Cambodian people."

Even though Jolie isn't at the Globes, here is a GIF of her fierce red carpet leg pose. Use it to imagine she is there with all of us in spirit while she does important work overseas.
