Jonah Hill Wore A Bear Hat At The Golden Globes

by Lindsay Denninger

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are a perfect pairing — they were both absolutely hysterical in 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, and they have the box office numbers to prove it. The pair is pretty much the go-to buddy duo in Hollywood today, so it’s no surprise that Hill and Tatum presented together at the Golden Globe Awards… except it all got a little weird when Hill wore a bear hat.

Riffing off of the bear featured in The Revenant , Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest grasp for an Oscar, Hill wore a bear hat and pretended to be that character, talking about honey awareness (he had a green ribbon on to represent it), how he’s a method actor like Tom Hardy, and how there are some studio heads he’d love to take a swipe at. Or at least that’s what I think he said — Hill cursed so much that 75 percent of his speech was bleeped out. I’m no lip reading expert, but I could definitely make out a few words that the FCC would not be happy about being on the air. Tatum…just kind of stood there while Hill went on and on. It was a weird choice to kick off the evening. I know the Golden Globes is the “fun” award show, but this went just a little too far in the "absurd" category.

All in all, it was super weird, and it definitely took away from the category that was being read — Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. Kate Winslet took that trophy home, and her charming British accent and general wonderful attitude on life partially erased what was a very strange opening to the Golden Globes. Maybe write something down and prepare a little harder next time, Hill and Tatum? Just a suggestion.
