Tori Kelly Is Re-Releasing Her Debut Album

by Alex Kritselis

Tori Kelly fans, your prayers have been answered: Tori Kelly is re-releasing her debut album, Unbreakable Smile , on Jan. 29. The 23-year-old singer made the exciting announcement in a YouTube video on Monday, revealing that the upcoming "repack" features two new songs: "Hollow" and "Something Beautiful." (Fans suspected Kelly might re-issue Unbreakable Smile after "Hollow" premiered at the end of October 2015, but she kept her plans a secret until now.) But wait, there's more: Kelly also announced that she's heading out on tour again in 2016! Tickets for her new Unbreakable Tour, which kicks off in April, go on sale on Fri., Jan. 15.

Kelly has yet to score a major hit single, so re-releasing Unbreakable Smile may seem like a confusing decision to some — but I actually think it's a great idea! Here's why:

First of all, "Hollow" is currently picking up steam at pop radio, and as the song continues to reach a wider audience, more and more people are going to be seeking out Kelly's stuff. Re-releasing Unbreakable Smile will make it so much easier for listeners to find Kelly's music! (And when they inevitably fall in love with her voice and start to wonder how/when/where they can see her perform live, she'll have a whole new set of tour dates for them to choose from, as well.)

Second of all, Kelly is nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards ceremony, which takes place on Feb. 15 — just a little over two weeks after the Unbreakable Smile repack drops. If Kelly takes home the trophy for Best New Artist (and I think she could), interest in her music will undoubtedly skyrocket (for a brief period of time, anyway). Again, re-releasing Unbreakable Smile will make it so much easier for people to find Kelly's work! If you ask me, her timing here couldn't be better.

I don't know about you, but I have a hunch 2016 is going to be Kelly's year. It feels like everything is falling into place. Stay tuned.
