Heartbreaking News For Vanessa Hudgens

Heartbreaking news for Vanessa Hudgens. On the same day that she's set to star as Rizzo in FOX's Grease: Live , the actor revealed devastating personal news on Twitter, that Hudgens' father passed away from stage four cancer. On Sunday, the 27-year-old tweeted,

I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers.

Although this is undeniably heartbreaking, Sunday night's show will go on and Hudgens' strength is incredibly admirable. She followed up the original tweet by writing, "Tonight, I do the show in his honor." Grease Live is sure to be a beautiful tribute to the actor's late father, who's a former firefighter. Hudgens first revealed her dad was battling cancer in August when accepting an award at the Industry Dance Awards in Los Angeles. The event benefited the Circle of Hope, a charity for dancers impacted by cancer. She took the stage and said,

Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer. Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being ... This award, it means a lot to me but I dedicate it to my boyfriend's mom, Lori, my dad, and to all the families out there who are struggling with this, because it really takes a strong person and a strong family to be able to help those out who are going through this.

At the time, she also shared a photo of them together, asking fans to pray on his behalf.

Wishing Hudgens and her family all the best during this tough time.
