Billy Eichner's Super Bowl Ad Is Hilarious
For as long as I can remember (OK, like three years), I've been making just about everyone I know watch clips from Billy On The Street, and stared them out until they've laughed. When anyone has dared to shrug their shoulders at the genius that is Billy Eichner, I have seriously considered defriending them on Facebook. Because no one, and I mean no one, has consistently made me laugh out loud as much as Eichner has in recent memory, and I'm pretty sure no one ever will. So if you're reading this article because you want to know who the guy guy from the Butterfinger ads is is, who's currently clogging up your Super Bowl content, you've come to the right place. No one knows who Billy Eichner is better than me, except for, I guess, people who actually know Billy Eichner.
You might have seen the Billy On The Street-inspired Butterfinger advert, in which Eichner runs around New York City with Terrell Owens in tow, and asks members of the public to show him their best touchdown dances in exchange for, you guessed it, Butterfinger goodness. But, aside from roaming the streets of Manhattan harassing strangers, who is Billy Eichner, and what does he do with his life? Are there any films, TV shows, or videos starring the comedian that you should seek out right now?
1. Billy On The Street Is Spectacular
Eichner created the show that introduced him to the world, and it's an endless stream of genius. Produced by Funny Or Die, Billy On The Street is a game show with a difference. Taking a camera around Manhattan, Eichner quizzes strangers he meets on the street, and invites them to play games like "For A Dollar," in which he asks questions to which only he knows the answer ("Are you jealous of Beyoncé's success?"). With guest stars in every episode like Lena Dunham, Amy Poehler, and Paul Rudd, I can't implore you strongly enough to watch this show immediately.
2. He Was In Parks And Recreation
Billy Eichner joined the cast of Parks And Recreation for Season 6 & 7. He played Craig Middlebrooks from rival town Eagleton, and was consistently dry, sarcastic, and brilliant throughout.
3. He Co-Stars In Hulu Sitcom Difficult People
One of the best shows to debut in 2015, Difficult People is a total gem. Eichner and show creator Julie Klausner play comedian besties who can't catch a break. And, to top it all off, they're both horrible, horrible people. Difficult People lets Billy Eichner showcase what he can do as an actor — he's every bit as mean, biting, sarcastic, and eye-rolling as you'd expect, but he's also the greatest BFF. Klausner couldn't have picked a better co-star.
4. Eichner Had A Cameo In Sleeping With Other People
Sleeping With Other People is a movie you should watch regardless of the fact that Billy Eichner is in it, but he's an added bonus. You can catch a snippet of his brilliant cameo at the start of the trailer, which shows him speaking at a sex addicts meeting.
5. You Might Have Seen His Version Of Adele's "Hello"
Billy Eichner and James Corden collaborated on the best parody of Adele's "Hello," in which the cell phones are even more antiquated that flip phones, and the Halloween costumes are Star Wars themed.
6. He Also Made A Brilliant Taylor Swift Parody
Before he took on Adele, Eichner did the most amazing Taylor Swift parody for Funny Or Die. Called "Glitter And Ribs," the comedian takes on every Taylor Swift trope there is, and creates a song even she would be proud of ("I don't want to get married, just to get divorced. I don't want to play golf, without a course").
7. Eichner Has An Upcoming Movie Role In Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising
Eichner is due to appear in the sequel to the Zac Efron and Seth Rogen-starring comedy film in 2016.
8. This Isn't His First Super Bowl Event
Watch Billy Eichner berate anyone who says they're not excited to see Madonna perform at the Super Bowl in 2012. Priorities, people.
9. He Is Simply Hilarious, OK?!
I dare you to disagree with me. Hopefully, soon, everyone will know and love Billy Eichner as much as I do.
