These Are The Quick & Easy Hair Trends Of 2016

by Rosie W.

It may only be February, but this year is already shaping up to be great for lazy girl hairstyles. Rejoice: the biggest hair trends of 2016 are quick and, well, easy. With designers embracing bedhead on the runway and YouTubers breaking down seemingly complicated 'dos for us plebes, it's never been easier to rock the latest hairstyle trends with close to zero effort.

Much to the chagrin of Millennials who actually remember the 20th century, '90s fashion is totally trending at the moment. We have Gwen Stefani in the early days of No Doubt (but, er, without the cultural appropriation), to thank for one of the hottest trends of 2016. The queen of ska pretty much single-handedly planted the seeds for today's space bun trend way back in the mid '90s. With those cute little buns seen recently on trendy celebs like Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles, space buns (AKA alien buns) are a stellar option for jazzing up a casual look.

While space buns are a total throwback, today's standards are increasingly accepting of natural texture, which means there are tons of options for heatless styles. This is also a great time to try out statement bangs — as Vogue points out, bangs of all textures and lengths were on display at NYFW 2016. Or you could be totally commitment-free give clip ins a try — more on that below. Interested in trying out these trends and more? Read on for all the quickest and easiest hair trends of 2016.

1. Space Buns

Space buns look great on all hair lengths, but longer hair is easier to incorporate into high buns like the ones in this tutorial. Here, ItsMyRayeRaye incorporates all of her hair into a pair of super cute puffballs.

2. Topknot Variations

Topknots are the quickest and easiest trend on this list, so give them a try if you haven't already.

3. Heatless Curls

We all know that heat isn't good for your hair in excess. If you're struggling to get off heat, try an overnight heatless set. Bonus: sleeping is part of getting ready in this style.

4. A Taut Braid

Flowing boho braids will never go out of style, but tight, compact braids are totally in this year.

5. Jeweled Accessories

Flower crowns were all the rage in 2015, but we're seeing barettes and jeweled headbands in 2016.

6. Clip In Bangs

Bangs are the easiest way to totally change up your look — and clip-ins are even easier. For some clip in inspo, check out how great they looked on Kylie Jenner.
