Fitz & Simmons Kissed (Again) On 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' & This Time They're Curse Free
Can every other show please take note from FitzSimmons on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? I've never seen a more grounded romance on a supernatural series. After deciding to start over, Fitz and Simmons kissed on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. like, a lot — and finally there wasn't an ounce of angst between them.
Seriously, please project Fitz saying "I said that one time," in regards to his assertions that they were cursed the last time the two scientists hooked up, on my tombstone. What an adorable moment! It also felt so realistic. I wish that more characters in high stakes scenarios got embarrassed in retrospect by the grandiose things that they've said. There was so much kissing and cuddling between the two of them that I barely cared that Daisy was going in evil in the other room. I was clearly too busy squee-ing (people still say "squee," right) my pitter patter heart out.
Personal feelings aside, I am so happy that this happened. It's good for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a show. Their reunion felt natural and not forced. When the two of them decided to start over and take things slow, I was worried that they were going to be overly formal about it. That would have gotten old. As Simmons said, they can't ignore ten years of history completely. That said, the show didn't gloss over the fact that both of them have experienced trauma. It's an incredibly mature relationship on multiple levels.
That said, I'm sure that once they finally confront Hive, he's going to go all horcrux and bring up some personal details about Will in an emotional attempt to get them to turn against each other. So this moment, as happy as it is, may also be a set-up for future conflict. Still, I am so impressed by the scene and the performances.
