It's quite an exciting time for Audrina Patridge. The 31-year-old is not only engaged, but she's also expecting her first child with Corey Bohan. In the latest issue of Fit Pregnancy and Baby, Patridge opened up about wedding planning and who's making the guest list. Unfortunately, there's some sad news for The Hills fans. Her former co-stars will not be in attendance — and if you ask me, her reasoning sounds almost like she's throwing some shade in their direction. The reality star told the magazine,
We just finalized the guest list, and it’s about 130 people, mostly family. As far as friends go, we only invited the ones who’ve been there for us in the past year and who will continue to be there for us for the next 30. So, no one from The Hills made the cut. If we were doing a really big wedding, I’d invite them, but we’re keeping it intimate.
On first glance, it seems like she's saying she just wants to keep her November wedding small. But the phrase that stands out to me is "we only invited the ones who've been there for us in the past year and will continue to be there for us for the next 30." Um, hello? Does that mean that Lauren Conrad, Spencer Pratt, and Heidi Montag weren't there for her in the past? That's such a bummer to hear. It's also disappointing that she doesn't foresee her former castmates in her future. Ouch.
I'm not naive enough to believe that some aspects of the show weren't scripted. But at the same time, I at least thought that filming the MTV series brought them together and gave them a lasting experience to bond over. Granted, it's Patridge's wedding day and she should have whatever kind of ceremony she chooses. It makes sense that she can't invite a ton of guests and wants an intimate event, but I'd have to guess that if she and the Hills cast members actually were close IRL, they'd be there in a heartbeat.
Patridge has clearly moved past her Hills days and despite my slight disappointment as a fan, I'm wishing her the best. She sounds sincerely excited in the rest of the interview and at least this means no one will be forced to be there who doesn't want to be. (Ahem, LC at Speidi's wedding.) Since it's not being filmed for TV, it's bound to be a beautiful ceremony — without any unnecessary drama to boost ratings. Congrats to the couple!
