If you love chocolate and coffee, you're in major luck this summer: Starbucks has just released a delightful-sounding new Frappuccino. So, what's in the Starbucks Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino, exactly? Honestly, I can't wait to try one — and I'm pretty sure that after you hear what it's made of, you'll feel the same way. To be fair, Starbucks has a lot of awesome new drinks out just in time to cool us down during the warm summer months, including the Starbucks S'mores Frappuccino, the Starbucks Caramel Waffle Cone Frappaccino, and their Cold Brew iced coffee line... but none of those make me think of the Fudgsicles of my youth. Just saying.
Personally, I'm a total coffee addict, so I tend to stick to drinks that deliver a good kick of caffeine — so basically, I'm continually downing espresso and cold brew like it's water (speaking of which, I should probably drink more water on a regular basis, too). The Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino looks so tasty, however, that it might make it into my summer rotation for as long as it's available. The drink made it onto the menu on June 11 (so that means you can go get it at this very moment, everybody!), and is available for the next "few weeks"; as such, you'll probably want to get on it if you want to try it. As a heads up, the price varies based on your market, but a 12-ounce Tall will typically run you between $4.25 and $4.95, making this a sweet treat you can (probably) grab for under $5.
But back to our original question: What is in the delicious-sounding Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino? Let's break it down:
1. Coffee
Like I said before, I'm a coffee lover, so this key ingredient has to be first on the list. According to a Starbucks rep, there's about 75 mg of caffeine in a Tall 12 ounce Starbucks Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino, which is definitely a nice boost. If you're avoiding caffeine, you can also ask for the drink to be prepared with decaf coffee.
2. Mocha Sauce
Oh, the mocha sauce. Who doesn't love mocha? If you're ordering a drink that makes you feel vaguely nostalgia for a chocolatey popsicle from your childhood, you probably anticipate a lot of mocha flavor, and it seems you won't be disappointed: Starbucks says baristas use a double dose of mocha sauce for this drink, so prepare your tastebuds for an overload of decadence.
3. Vanilla Syrup
Making this sweet drink even sweeter is the vanilla syrup, blended with the rest of the ingredients to add an additional layer of flavor and complexity to a chocolate-heavy drink.
4. Your Choice of Milk
Starbucks Frappaccinos are made with your choice of milk, including dairy-free options! The milk is blended with ice, coffee, and syrups, creating the base for your sweet, cool summer drink.
5. Chocolatey Whipped Cream
This is not a drill. There is chocolatey whipped cream available, and it will come on top of your fudgy Frappuccino. Arguably, this means you could refer to your Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino as a Triple Fudge Bar Frappuccino (with the other two fudge bars being the double dose of mocha sauce)... but when it comes to chocolatey goodness, who is counting?
