Vanessa Could Return To 'BB18'

by Laura Rosenfeld

Big Brother's tagline is famously "expect the unexpected," but we already know one major twist in the game for Season 18. The siblings of two Big Brother houseguests from past seasons will be competing for the $500,000 prize this summer, Paul Calafiore, the older brother of BB16 runner-up Cody Calafiore and Tiffany Rousso, the younger sister of BB17 's Vanessa Rousso, CBS announced, as reported by Us Weekly. But, as we all know, that's far from the only twist Big Brother will have up its sleeve this summer. So, does that mean Vanessa will be on this season of Big Brother ?

Well, Big Brother is just about to kick off Season 18 on Wednesday, June 22 at 8 p.m. ET, so that remains to be seen. What we do know now is that Vanessa was not one of the 12 houseguests CBS has already announced to be competing on this season of Big Brother. But, of course, it's not uncommon for Big Brother to unveil additional houseguests during premiere night or throughout the season. So, there's always a chance that Vanessa could snag a key to the Big Brother house once again.

However, that does seem unlikely for a few reasons. One is that Vanessa's sister Tiffany probably wants to keep her famous relation a secret during her time in the Big Brother house because being connected to last season's most masterful player would put a huge target on her back. If Vanessa was in the house at the same time as Tiffany, the BB18 houseguests would much more easily be able to see the resemblance between the two, even more than you already can if you look at her long enough, and promptly blow up Tiffany's game.

Tiffany's sister will also be running her official Twitter account while she's in the Big Brother house, which probably means Vanessa will be updating it in her absence. It looks like Vanessa, who is a professional poker player, is also going to be quite busy with tournaments this summer, so she might not have time to take off and be in the Big Brother house.

But then again, 12 does seem like too few houseguests for a season of Big Brother. In total, 16 houseguests are expected to play the game this season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Plus, the show has had approximately 15 houseguests each season for the past several years. So it seems likely that more houseguests will be on the way, whether Vanessa is among them or not.

Big Brother might also want to give Vanessa another shot at the top prize after her abysmal finish in third place last year. Vanessa was just about the only houseguest using some strategy last season, so I think she most definitely deserved to win. Seeing her finally take home the title of Big Brother champion would just feel right.

Some rumor sites are even reporting that Vanessa will return as a coach this season, in a similar fashion to BB14 when former Big Brother players Dan Gheesling, Britney Haynes, Janelle Pierzina, and Mike "Boogie" Malin all returned to the game to mentor the houseguests, eventually becoming houseguests themselves to compete for the $500,000 prize. However, those reports have not been confirmed and even the websites repeating the rumors don't seem to give them much credence, so you probably shouldn't either.

So, you'll just have to watch this season of Big Brother to see if Vanessa makes her triumphant return to the house. But, who knows? Maybe Tiffany will become our new favorite Rousso sister anyway.
