How Did Idris Elba & Naiyana Garth Meet? They're A Major Couple To Watch

Sorry ladies, but Emmy-nominated actor Idris Elba is taken. And while this might not be news to everyone — personally, I thought Elba was single — the award-winning actor and his girlfriend of three years, Naiyana Garth, were rumored to have split earlier this year, so I'm sure many of you, like me, weren't aware that Elba was off the market. Alas, it's true: Elba and Garth are an item, and they even share a son together, Winston Elba.

Like any timeless love story, Elba and Garth are happily together just in time for Elba to be nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in Luther . This, of course, makes Elba and Garth one of Hollywood's red carpet couples to watch while tuning in to the Emmys. But, how did Elba and Garth meet? Well, as it turns out, the now parents of two seemed to have found each other at the perfect time.

According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Elba and Garth made their relationship public after the Harper's Bazaar Women Of The Year Awards in March 2013. However, before their mostly private relationship went noticed by the public, they were said to have been seeing each other for a couple of months. In fact, the Daily Mail reported that Elba and Garth's relationship was in full swing by the time March rolled around — and Garth was already "a real hit with his [Elba's] family and friends."

All the while, Elba was becoming a real hit in Hollywood as well. As of March 2013, Elba was just making a splash with his 2012 Golden Globe Award for the BBC series, Luther. And, after his hit 2012 blockbuster Prometheus, Elba continued his blossoming career with Garth by his side as he played Heimdall in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World and none other than Nelson Mandela in the critically acclaimed film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. In early 2013, Garth was also staying pretty busy herself. As a London-based make-up artist and hairstylist, she was taking on multiple jobs in the world of fashion, special effects/prosthetics for film, and even bridal. Luckily, their busy schedules didn't tear them apart — it only brought them closer.

Now, with the Primetime Emmy Awards airing Sept. 17, it could be one of the rare times that fans get to see this Hollywood couple out-and-about and flaunting their relationship. While I get the whole privacy thing, this couple is just way too cute — we all could use a little more Elba and Garth in our lives.
