We should know better than to believe everything Donald Trump says on the campaign trail. And yet, when he announced on Monday that New England Patriots star Tom Brady had called him personally to tell him that he had voted for him, some Brady fans went into a frenzy. "He called today and he said, 'Donald, I support you, you're my friend, and I voted for you,'" Trump told a crowd at a rally in New Hampshire. Well, it looks like he may have spoken too soon. Brady has not publicly confirmed or denied his alleged vote for Trump, and the question of who Tom Brady is voting for is still up in the air.
Brady could very well have voted for Trump, but on Friday, he told Boston radio's "Kirk & Callahan Show" on WEEI that he had not voted yet. However, a report from Fox 25 reporter Michael Henrich claimed that Brady was spotted voting via absentee ballot Monday morning. So, theoretically, the football star could have dropped his ballot off after the radio interview and called Trump later in the day. But, before you think the case is closed, here's what Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen had to say about her family's alleged Trump support. When asked on Instagram whether she and Brady were "backing Trump" by user _ricky_ve, Bundchen responded with an vigorous "NO!"
So, who do you believe — Bundchen, or Trump? Some eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that Bundchen's response could just mean that she, herself, is not a Trump supporter, leaving the door open for Brady to have voted for Trump. Bundchen's Instagram comment implies a very strong stand against the candidate, but Brady has been less direct when asked about Trump. Just a few weeks ago at a press conference, Brady was asked about the Republican's now infamous "locker room talk" Access Hollywood tape, and he walked out without a word. Brady later explained his avoidance of the question, telling Boston's WEEI via People that he doesn't "do the trash-talking" and didn't want to be "a distraction for the team."
It looks like, despite Bundchen's denial, Brady's vote could go either way. And it's unlikely fans will find out who Brady voted for before the polls close on Election Day. That said, during his Monday appearance on "The Kirk & Callahan Show," Brady promised to publicly announce who he voted for... after the election. "I can't wait to tell you guys that," he teased. Guess fans will have to hold their breath.
