George Has Some Season 4 Clues for Us

by Mallory Schlossberg

I know, you can't wait for winter to come again on April 6, even if it is officially spring in this realm, but George R. R. Martin is also excited for Season 4 of Game of Thrones . Not to mention, there are specific scenes he's looking forward to. (Don't worry, there are no spoilers here, just some speculation.)

Martin says he's looking forward to King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell's impending nuptials, which is obviously going to be one of the biggest events of the season. Based on last season's epic and devastating Red Wedding, we know that a wedding in Westeros is a wedding to remember — er, one that you want to forget, but can't, that is. Not to mention, we know that there's a new guy in King's Landing, Prince Oberyn, who seeks vengeance on the Lannisters — and what better place to do so than at a wedding, amiright!?

We also know that no one is safe in Westeros — once you start rooting for a character or a get a sense that he or she may indeed have a moral compass — he or she gets killed off (look no further than this Honest Trailer for a pretty accurate depiction of this concept). This season has been slated to be bloodier than the preceding seasons — so it's very likely that this event follow suit with the Red Wedding, if not bypass it.

Martin also says that there's a huge battle at the end of the season, one that usurps The Battle of Blackwater at the end of Season 2, which means it's pretty big. While we don't know who will live and who will die — yet — we can get an inkling of suspicion that if Martin's looking forward to these two events in particular, that some pretty big stuff will happen then.

But fear not! This will all kick into gear within just a couple of days, as Season 4 commences on April 6!
