Christina Aguilera Spoils Gwen Stefani's Big 'Voice' Announcement With One Simple Tweet
It's been rumored recently that Gwen Stefani is going to become the newest judge on The Voice and now it looks like the person she whose job she'll be taking was the first to reveal the news. Christina Aguilera tweeted that Gwen Stefani will be joining The Voice and it seems she may have jumped the gun a little. While speculation has been out there about Stefani joining ever since Aguilera announced she will continue to take time off for her pregnancy, this has remained a rumor until now and NBC has not yet confirmed anything. There is still the possibility that Aguilera just read the rumor in some tabloid, decided it must be true, and went ahead with her congratulatory tweet, but it's highly unlikely. If anyone would know the truth, it's Aguilera so this is about as good as a confirmation from the network.
Aguilera wrote, "So excited to have you join #TheVoice squad @GwenStefani! Welcome to our crazy fam! Kisses- xoxo #blondesdoitbest." None of the other Voice judges have spoken out about Stefani joining yet, but when this was still a rumor everyone seemed to be on board. Levine and host Carson Daly both agreed that Stefani would be a great addition while Blake Shelton said, "I look forward to beating anybody on this show, honestly!"
It's unclear if Aguilera was given the go ahead to spread the news, but the tweet hasn't been taken down so if she's in trouble, it must not be too bad. Stefani herself hasn't yet confirmed she'll be joining the show, but when she does become a judge on season seven, as seems very clear at this point, she will join another new face, Pharrell Williams. The seventh season is slated to begin in fall of this year.
