Shailene Woodley Hasn't Shopped in A Couple Years

By now, anyone who's been following Shailene Woodley knows that she's a suuuppper down to earth chick. Like, eats clay/tans her lady parts/is "homeless" kind of chick. And during a recent interview with InStyle, the FIOS star further cemented her carefree demeanor by admitting that she hasn't gone shopping in the last two years. To be specific, Woodley told InStyle she hasn't "bought a piece of clothing in a year or two.” Just a fair guesstimation.

Of course, we have to remember that the actress is probably gifted new clothes on the daily and that all of those fabulous red carpet pieces are on loan from designers. But, still! It's safe to assume that the 22-year-old actress had made a pretty penny or two with all of the insanely successful projects under her belt — The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Descendants, Divergent, to name a few. So, what would I expect her to do with all that cash money (read: what would I do if I had all of her money)? Shop, of course! But, no. Woodley doesn't have time for that. And when she does buy something for herself, it's definitely not new.

When Woodley starred on the cover of the The Hollywood Reporter, she shared her shopping mantra: “I exclusively buy used clothes. I’m going to be a citizen of this planet, and I’m going to do my responsibility and live in stride with nature instead of constantly fighting against her."

And although she'd rather show up to work in her organic leggings and flatbed sandals, Woodley understands that dressing up for junkets or premieres is like showing up at the office — it's her job to wear those dresses and heels. "When I go on a red carpet, I’m Shailene, but I’m also Shailene representing a movie. I’m there for my boss, for my employer, so part of that comes with wearing the uniform," she tells THR.
