This Week's 'Game of Thrones' Will Be Intense

by Mallory Schlossberg

It's hard to believe, but we're actually at the ninth episode of season four of Game of Thrones. To up the anticipation, we've got photos from Game of Thrones episode nine, "The Watchers on The Wall," and it looks like we're in for another doozy. After all, fans of Game of Thrones know that the ninth episode of every season is always a big one. Case-in-point: In Season one, we saw Ned Stark lose his head. In season two, we saw The Battle of Blackwater, which at the time, was the show's most expensive episodeuntil this upcoming one. In season three we saw the devastating blood bath that was The Red Wedding. Season four has already brought us moments that in previous seasons, we might have only seen in the ninth hour, such as The Purple Wedding and Oberyn's literally eye-popping death.

Judging by these photos, it looks like we're in for some more jaw-dropping moments, and with our perfectly coiffed hero Jon Snow leading the forces at Castle Black, we might be in for one of the biggest episodes ever.

Based on the pics, we can make some assumptions about what might go down. We know that The Wildlings — Ygritte included — are going to attack, and we know that this means Jon Snow and Ygritte will reunite, but it won't feel so good. Last time we checked in with the two of them, she shot him with a bow and arrow, putting her in the Westeros Ex-Girlfriend Hall of Fame.

But let's take a look at these pictures! Are you excited? I know I am. I've been saying it over and over again, but I'll repeat myself: ONCE YOU GO CASTLE BLACK, YOU NEVER GO BACK.

So! Ygritte's back, and she's probably not going to be interested in sparing anyone's life. Might we see a face-off between her and Jon Snow? Talk about a lover's battle!

Will Samwell reunite with Gilly? Or will we see one of them go? Samwell — from his profile, at least — looks like he's concerned, but that's kind of been his go-to this season. Hopefully Snow's pal will be okay after the battle.

I AM JON SNOW. HEAR ME ROAR. This looks like a hair commercial.

AND LOOK AT ME DANCE-FIGHT.

Okay, we so we know that this going to be a MAJOR episode for Jon Snow. This is what we've been waiting for! In fact, before the season even began, Kit Harington alluded to the fact that this would be a huge season for his character. We've seen Snow not reunite with Bran, and we've seen him give Karl the bloody ending that the creepy d-bag deserved, but we've mostly seen him warn everyone about this fight. He's not a man of many words, but as the oldest Stark man left, you know he's going to fight honorably. That said, hopefully he won't follow suit with the other Starks in ninth episodes past...

Still, judging by these photos, it looks like he DOES know something — like how to fight like a total bad-ass.
