A Humble Request From Us To Kim

by Kristie Rohwedder

As much as I love Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, I cannot call it a perfect game. It's so very close, but it falls flat in one very major area: It requires cell reception or Internet connection at all times. If the network breaks down, the game breaks down. If the game breaks down, I break down. I want to be able to play KK:H any time, any place. Alas, I cannot.

This inspired me to write an open letter to Kim Kardashian. I may never know if she reads it, but at least I tried to make a difference.

Dear Kim,

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I know you’re very busy with your family and your career. Big fan.

Before I get into it, allow me to express just how much I enjoy Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. It's the only game I've kept on my iPhone longer than a week. It might be my favorite game after The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3. I am addicted.

Forgive me if this is in any way presumptuous, but would it be at all possible for your team to design an app update that allows users to play KK:H both on and off network? I do understand the value of a game hooked up to the world wide web: users can link up with other users, the game can interact with real-life social media accounts, and you can give us free K stars whenever the app crashes (thanks so much!). But why can’t the game be played without a network connection? It would be positively aces if we could choose "Play While Off The Grid" or something. I never want anything standing between me and an interaction with Simon Orsik.

Last week, I was on a wifi-less airplane. Do you know what would’ve been a really fun way to burn through two four-hour plane rides? Of course you know the answer. (Don't worry, I made do. I ate an entire "share size" bag of Gummy Life Savers, drank some ginger ale, and, despite my sugar rush, managed to sleep like an angel.)

Another fantastic place to play cell phone games? On the subway. Do you know where it’s impossible to play Kim Kardashian: Hollywood? On the subway. Because you need to be connected to the network to play KK:H.

Say I'm somewhere with cell reception but zero wifi. In order to play KK:H, I'd have to burn through my data plan. I don't want to burn through my data plan. I want to put the phone in airplane mode and play KK:H to my heart's content and save my data plan. You dig?

Though I know next to nothing about how apps work, I'm sure there's a way to make KK:H It's 2014. function without a network. I believe.

Thank you for your time. Again, big fan.

Regards,

Kristie Rohwedder
