Why Jeans Are Superior To All Other Pants

If you asked someone what their preferred form of bottoms are, 95 percent of the time the answer would undoubtedly be denim. It's not because jeans are necessarily the most comfortable pair of pants out there (Hello, sweatpants!), but they are the one pair of bottoms you can depend on in a pinch. Take into consideration your endless options for styles, washes and fits — the dream of being able to create a thousand different looks with one single pair of pants is entirely possible. In fact, denim has come so far over the years that guys and gals are even getting away with some options at work far beyond the coveted casual Friday.

There are various key factors that play into the claim that jeans are better than any other pants. It's no longer just a matter of looks; it really comes down to a preference that sets the standard for style and comfort without really having to make an effort. As back-to-school season is fast approaching, retailers are hiking up their denim awareness with brands like Nasty Gal creating their very own line to keep the ball rolling for this timeless staple. Is it possible that all your favorite leggings, soft pants, and maxi skirts will become obsolete? Nah, that's crazy talk, but it does feel like those alternatives are going to take a backseat in your wardrobe to make way for all the bell bottoms, skinnies, and, yes, even high-waisted denim apparel that will soon begin to bombard your closet.

Gone are the days of just wide leg and boot cut. Now we have an interesting array of styles that are able to fit into any particular event you are shopping for. With bell bottoms back in action along with the usual high-waisted, skinny, and boyfriend jeans, choosing a style has become just as important as choosing a wash. Besides, no one ever said too much choice in fashion was a bad thing.

2. BECAUSE THEY LAST LONGER THAN OTHER PANTS

It may sound kind of gross, but jeans are one of the few bottoms that you can get away with not washing after you wear them. Many jean lovers know that the more you wash them, the more wear and tear they may take on. Sometimes the wear and tear is the goal, in which case wash away! But, for those who want to baby their denim, the thought of washing them after every use just seems insane.

3. BECAUSE THEY HAVE VERSATILITY

I mentioned earlier that it is much easier to get away with wearing your jeans to work, and that is no lie, my friends. The darker and sleeker the denim, the more opportunity you have to rock them at the office. Besides, with all the statement accessories out there, you can easily draw attention away from the fact that your bottoms are the most comfortable thing you are wearing.

4. BECAUSE YOUR BUTT HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER

What is the first thing you do when you try on jeans? You turn your back to the mirror and immediately examine how your butt looks. There is just no way in hell that stretchy pants, soft pants, or any other form will make your butt look as fabulous as it does in your favorite pair of jeans. End of discussion.

5. BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPER EASY TO STYLE

Think about all the pants you own besides your jeans, can you style them in less than five minutes? The answer is likely no as so many bottoms need specific pieces to match them in order to look normal. Jeans, not the case. Slap together whatever the heck you want because jeans have no rules!

6. BECAUSE THEY FEEL WORTH THE INVESTMENT

Denim prices range all over the place, but regardless of what you paid for your favorite pair of jeans they are worth the investment. Would you rather pay $100 for a pair of jeans, or $100 for a pair of dress pants that you know you are only going to wear to work? The weight alone of a pair of jeans is enough to convince me that I am making the right choice at the register. It's a bigger bang for your buck.

7. BECAUSE THEY ARE DURABLE

Jeans are made of a sturdy cotton twill textile that just sounds impressive when you say it out loud. You can put these suckers through anything before they will tear or fall apart.

8. BECAUSE THEY HIDE STAINS SO WELL

Spilling yogurt on your black dress pants is a nightmare, but spilling yogurt on your jeans is not that bad. Stains are easy to get rid of or hide for the day when you are wearing jeans — unless you are wearing white jeans, in which case I applaud your bravery. It ties back into the fact that they are extremely durable.
