J.Lo's Version of the Matchy-Matchy Trend

by Mary Avant

Singer. Dancer. Actress. Mother to adorable twins. Hit reality TV show judge. To be honest, I'm not sure there's anything that Jennifer Lopez can't (or doesn't) do these days. And that most definitely includes pulling off a head-to-toe python print ensemble at the latest American Idol Season 14 photo call. Yeah, you heard me right: The "Booty" singer showed up to promote the next season of the popular series wearing not just one piece drenched in snakeskin print — which would basically be boring for the sultry, glamorous star — but three of them. Meaning every single piece of her outfit featured an identical, in-your-face python print. Oh, and did I mention that this was all in a shockingly (but beautifully) bright shade of turquoise?

The Dsquared² outfit featured a three-quarter-length-sleeve shift dress — which looks more like a slightly elongated tunic to me, considering that it barely reaches past her iconic backside — plus a stunningly structured snakeskin satchel and a pair of rounded-toe pumps in the pretty blue hue. Pairing the look with a subtle smoky eye, a nude lip, casually half-swept-back waves, and a wrist full of bangles, the star kept the rest of her outfit pared down to avoid competing with her eye-catching ensemble.

Of course, the python print look is by no means the most outrageous — or outrageously sexy — thing J.Lo has sported in even the last year alone. (Remember that dress-jumpsuit hybrid at the Versace Fall 2014 show?) But the look does go to show a few things: One, that the 45-year-old star still has a bangin' body and killer legs (duh), and two, that she can effortlessly pull off matchy-matchy looks that most other stars and real-life ladies wouldn't even dare to try. Signs of a style legend? Looks like a start to me.
