The Golden Horse Awards Were On Point

by Rosie Narasaki

The AMAs kind of blew up the internet this weekend. What with the amazing Taylor Swift craziness, the possible end of the Lorde/Selena Gomez feud, and the truly great hair to be had by all, it was quite a night. That said, there was another major awards show this weekend — across the Pacific, over in Taipei we had the Golden Horse Awards.

And even though the AMAs were pretty well-dressed (I'm still not over Lucy Hale's '20s-tastic slip dress or Lorde's minimalistic Chanel ensemble), I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Golden Horse Awards were even more fashionable. I mean, Kendall Jenner in a sarong is all very fine and well, but Gong Li in burnished gold? That's a little something I like to call formidable.

Believe me when I say, the style was kind of off the charts. Gong Li was far from the only one serving up fabulosity: Zhang Ziyi looked characteristically perfect, and Lily Collins wore Elie Saab with almost as much aplomb as she wore it with at the Rome Film Festival. So, without any further ado, let's take a look at some of the best ensembles of the evening!

Zhang Ziyi

Does she ever not look perfect? (Also, J. Mendel can get it with their starkly modern showstoppers).

Gong Li

In the dictionary next to "fierce," probably.

Lily Collins

Enough lace to make five shower curtains is always a good thing in my book, and that color is gorgeous

Joan Chen

Ms. Chen kept things simple on the style front, and let her major bling do the talking. I'd expect no less from sartorial goddess Josie Packard.

Tang Wei

Tang Wei looked fresh faced in a classic (yet dramatic) Roberto Cavalli number.

Gwei Lun-Mei

You're never going to go wrong in ultra-delicately detailed Elie Saab.

Angelica Lee

One of my favorites from Monique Lhuillier's absolutely fabulous Fall 2014 show.
