On the heels of her inaugural Super Bowl performance at Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday night, Perry inked XLIX on her ring finger. Right before taking the body art plunge, the "Dark Horse" singer shared a picture of herself under the tattoo needle on Instagram with the caption, "Thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight. XLIX." Later on, she posted a picture of the final product, a simple black rendering of the number "49" in Roman Numerals to celebrate her half-time performance. Personally, I would've opted for a dancing shark or a doodle of the Transformer-style lion that she rode into the stadium, but that's just me.

This most recent ink brings Katy Perry's tattoo count to eight tattoos. Full disclosure: this tally only includes visible tats that are known to us plebs in the public.
