If you watched the Grammys last year, then you probably know that Ariana Grande spent much of her time on the red carpet crying because of the mean tweets she received about her entire look (which she can now laugh about). I'm sure Grande's been plotting a fabulous comeback since that moment, so it should be no surprise that she arrived at this year's event wearing a super elegant, white Versace gown. Girl. Looks. GOOD. Especially with that handsome arm candy (we're looking at you, Big Sean!).
Grande looks absolutely flawless in her sleek, off-the-shoulder dress with metallic silver accents. I love the cut-out detailing on the front, too — it's just the right amount of sexy without showing too much skin. It's a very mature and glamorous look for the singer, who decided to match the gown with her signature high ponytail. I also love that she kept her makeup simple with a classic cat eye and nude lips. It might just be my favorite red carpet look from her ever!
It's a far cry from last year's more demure floral gown, which was all part of a good girl image Grande rocked at the beginning of her rise to pop stardom, but has shed since. Now, the pocket-sized "diva" is all about wearing body-hugging dresses, short skirts and crop tops that show off her tiny ballerina figure.
Grande took to Twitter yesterday to share her excitement over her Versace gown, saying, "I think grandps would be very pleased w my dress selections tomorrow. One of his favorite Italian designers! He'll be watchinnnn front cloud." So sweet!
Grande is up for two awards tonight: Best Pop Vocal Album for My Everything and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Bang Bang.” She's also taking the stage, joining The Roots for what we can only imagine will be an incredible performance. If Ariana Grande is truly feeling as anxious as she told Ryan Seacrest she was, it's not showing with this killer, confident look.
