11 Reasons There Should Be Moms Like Mindy

You guys, some breaking news to report to you: It's totally possible for a character to become pregnant on a TV show without the actress portraying her to be with child herself. Crazy, right? To prove my eye opening point, let's refer to the case of Mindy Kaling and The Mindy Project , where her character, Mindy Lahiri, is definitely about to have a little kiddo, but Kaling ain't. I suppose it's easy to get it twisted if you don't follow a celebrity too closely and happen to catch them with a particularly true to life looking padded baby bump. The makeup and wardrobe departments are exceedingly talented and it is sort of their job to fool us into believing. So good on you, Hollywood glam dudes.

That said, the not-so-fine line Kaling draws with her character's impending motherhood does spark a very real epiphany. Whether Kaling decides to go the route of her character and procreate or not — which is totally up to her and I'll be over the moon for her either way — she possesses so many wonderful qualities that any kid should be so lucky to have in a mom. It's just that Kaling is an all around intelligent, empowering woman and it'd help if there were more people like her influencing our youth.

So, here are the reasons why any kid would be lucky to have a mother like Mindy:

1. She chills with the in crowd

Was that a Clueless, "Rollin' With The Homies" move?!

2. She can be intimidating, but also understanding

3. She doesn't take herself, or life, too seriously

4. She gives solid life advice

5. She's compassionate and motivating

Kaling wrote in her book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), "I just want ambitious teenagers to know it is totally fine to be quiet, observant kids. Besides being a delight to your parents, you will find you have plenty of time later to catch up."

8. She draws inspiration from the greats, like Beyoncé

9. She's wise

In her commencement speech to Harvard Law Graduates she said, "What advice could I give you guys? Celebrities give too much advice and people listen to it too much... Most of us have no education whatsoever... Who should be giving advice and the answer is people like you."
