Rob Taylor Put A Spell On 'The Voice' Voters

by Jessica Molinari

Rob Taylor just cast a spell on The Voice voters and now the votes are all his. The soul singer channeled his charm and mystery for tonight's Top 12 performance and totally nailed it. Taylor had to work hard tonight after having been saved in last week's Top 12 reveal by coach Christina, but he certainly made his coach proud. He even left her speechless which, if you're an avid viewer of the show, you know is no easy task. Taylor put himself on the map with this competition, and is sure to earn a spot in the Top 10.

It's tough to take on a classic like "I Put A Spell On You" but Taylor did it justice. The audience really saw Taylor come to life in this performance, and that's what made it so good. He captivated the audience and owned the stage, which earned him a standing ovation by the coaches — which is no easy feat. And did you hear that amazing note he hit at the end?! Just when I thought the performance had flat-lined, he channeled his inner Mia Z and hit that crazy-high note. That alone should get him a one-way ticket to the Top 10.

Taylor probably won't win this competition — there's just too much talent for him to overcome in a few short weeks. But his performance tonight was a major breakthrough for him and one that I'm excited America got to witness. Taylor may not have the powerhouse vocals or crazy vocal tricks that other contestants have — but he has sincerity, personality, and a solid voice. He has learned so much from the coaches that will help him kickstart his career outside The Voice. Whether it's performing live, recording an album, or covering "I Put A Spell On You" for the Hocus Pocus reboot, Taylor is an artist to watch.
