Emma Watson may have just worn one of the coolest, most modern ensembles ever: At the 2015 Time 100 Gala last night Emma Watson went all out in Dior, with some (literal) fancy pants. She attended the event wearing a stunningly chic black top, paired with charcoal gray cigarette pants and some intriguing waist-draping — which I think can best be described as an asymmetrical pants-cape? It may sound strange (and then some), but Watson, who can kind of do no fashion wrong, really made it work.
It's not the first time the actress has worn some seriously cutting-edge Dior — after all, there was the polarizing red dress/black pants combo that she wore to the 2014 Golden Globes (it was some distant, high-fashion relative to the skort), and the multi-textured swingy asymmetrical dress she killed it in at Paris Fashion Week. Her Time 100 Gala ensemble is just another very cool, very avant garde Dior look to add to that list.
When you think about it, all the fashion-y Dior actually makes a lot of sense: There are plenty of stars out there who frequent Dior, and they each kind of have their own niche — Jennifer Lawrence gets the voluminous ball gown numbers, Natalie Portman takes the wood nymph-esque frocks, Marion Cotillard wears all of the Parisian chic dresses. This leaves the modern architectural ensembles for Emma Watson — and she wears them with aplomb to spare.
Will one-legged Grecian pants-capes become the next big thing? I doubt it, but I sure hope she keeps it up with the stylish experimentation.
