Starbucks Mini Frappuccinos Have Arrived, So Here Are Some Ideas For Other Cute And Tiny Menu Items
Lovers of coffee and tiny food everywhere are currently rejoicing about the fact that Starbucks Mini Frappuccinos have arrived. They hit the menu earlier this week on May 11, and they'll be available for purchase through July 6. They're adorable, of course, because tiny food is always adorable — and, more practically, they're also the perfect option for a sweet summer pick-me-up: Big enough to give you both a dose of caffeine and a fun treat, but not big enough to make you sick of it by the time your straw starts scraping the bottom of it.
To be fair, Mini Frappuccinos aren't actually that much smaller than plain ol' Tall ones — 10 ounces, as opposed to 12 — but even so, I have this fabulous picture in my weird little brain of a Frappuccino getting hit by Wayne Szalinski's shrink ray. What? Honey, I Shrunk the Frappuccino is totally a blockbuster waiting to happen.
Well… maybe not. But the mental image is still pretty spectacular.
And it did get me thinking about other miniaturized versions of Starbucks treats I'd like to see hit the menu at some point. I mean, sure, we've got cake pops as an option — but Starbucks' menu is actually pretty extensive, especially when you consider who tiny some of its locations are (I'm looking at you, Starbucks on 42nd St. and 6th Ave.). Does anyone else think these ideas might fly?
1. Mini Coffee
Technically that's an espresso, isn't it? Never mind — we've already got that one covered.
2. Mini Scones
Because mini scones are as adorable as they are tasty.
3. Brownie Bites
Sometimes you just don't want a whole brownie's worth of chocolate, you know?
4. Mini Frappuccino Cookies
To go with your Mini Frappuccino, of course
5. Mini Muffins
Sell 'em in sets of three and you can share them with your favorite people. Score!
6. Mini Donuts
Same goes for the donuts. But I don't mean donut holes — I mean actual, tiny donuts. Because they're so cute I almost don't know what to do with them (besides eat them, that is).
7. Mini Yogurt Parfait
Am I the only one who thinks most yogurt parfaits are way too big? I don't need a meal; I need a snack. So why not offer them in a mini size, too?
8. Mini Smoothie
If Frappuccinos can benefit from a 10-ounce size, so can those Evolution Fresh Smoothies, kale and all.
9. Mini Pumpkin Spice Latte
I will never not want a PSL, in any size. Come. Embrace your basic-ness with me.
10. Mini Cheesecake
I don't know about you, but I always have a hard time finishing off full slices of cheesecake. Now, I know Starbucks doesn't typically stock cheesecake… but don't you think a mini cheesecake offering would do well there? It just pairs so nicely with black coffee and espresso!
