8 Reasons Taylor & J. Law Should Do A Song

by Alexis Rhiannon

Just when you thought you couldn't be any more jealous of Taylor Swift's friend circle, she goes and adds Jennifer Lawrence to it, in a big way. We've seen the two of them interacting before, like when Lawrence photobombed Swift on the red carpet of the 2014 Golden Globes, but never quite like this. They've apparently taken their friendship to the next level, because earlier this week, paparazzi spotted Lawrence leaving Swift's apartment in New York City. Ladies, seriously, you can't do this to me. At least warn me to sit down first before exploding my brain with joy and FOMO.

With two women this down-to-earth and seemingly awesome, I just can't imagine what their hangouts would even be like. Do you think Lawrence brings her Oscar and Swift gets out one of her Grammys, and they just talk about who else they should invite to complete the EGOT Party? (Not that anyone asked me, but I'd recommend Scarlett Johansson for the Tony, and Allison Effing Janney for the Emmy. I'd get into that party and never leave.)

Or once EGOT talk died down, if I could humbly suggest another conversation topic? Namely, when the two of them are going to record a song together?? I know they just got to hanging-out-at-each-other's-house status, but I feel like I've been waiting for this moment my whole life without knowing it.

Below, eight reasons that collaboration needs to happen.

1. Because Lawrence Can Sang

Ummmm we all remember "The Hanging Tree" from Mockingjay: Part 1, right? Lawrence knocked it out of the park.

2. Because Swift Is Focusing On Her Female Friends

Sooner or later she's gonna start having to put out material that's about the new relationships in her life — her female friendships — and Lawrence could help her start navigating that path.

3. They Wouldn't Need To Rehearse

Lawrence is notorious for doing a lot of her acting scenes without rehearsal, so why would writing a song be any different? They'd just show up in the studio, act professional, and have an award-winning track nailed down before we knew it.

4. Because Lawrence Missed Out On The "Bad Blood" Video

This friendship came just months too late for Lawrence to squeeze in on the "Bad Blood" video with all the rest of Swift's besties. You owe her one, girl!

5. Because It Could Be About Lorde

She's a mutual friend between the two of them, so please, please, please write a song about her, and then that will inspire Lorde to write a response album, and then I'll have music from all my favorite people, and all will be right in the world.

6. Because Lawrence Needs A Confidence-Booster

Remember how much she downplayed her singing voice before Mockingjay came out? And then it turned out she totally rocked it? I hereby nominate Swift to bring Lawrence back to reality and help her realize she has a crazy good voice.

7. BECAUSE WE WANT IT

What more reasons do you need?
