12 Elie Saab Gowns Fit For The Carpet

by Rosie Narasaki

Sometimes, Elie Saab gets flack for being predictable — but when it comes down to it, no one can quite rock the red carpet like they can, and the Elie Saab Fall 2015 couture collection proves that. I mean, think back to some of the most fairy princess fashion moments in recent history, and a good portion of them can be tied back to Elie Saab. Lily James' on-theme showstopper at the Los Angeles Premiere of Cinderella, Shu Qi's fluttery floral dress at the closing ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival, Emma Stone's Gatsby-esque Oscars gown... yep, all of that mega-watted fabulousness is thanks to Elie Saab — and luckily for us, the Fall 2015 Couture collection is just as lovely as always.

Fittingly, the show was themed around angsty princesses (let's make an official petition for this to be the theme of all future fashion shows) — the models wore intricate tiaras as they floated down the runway to Nirvana and the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. The collection was made up almost entirely of shimmery gowns, and shades of gold dominated the runway, in a sweet nod to Mr. Saab's 25th wedding anniversary (On July 4th, 1990, his wife walked down the aisle in an enormous golden ball gown of his creation).

Now, make no mistake — all 57 out of 57 ensembles would slay about at any venue (yes, even on the subway or your cubicle at work) — but here are 12 that are particularly fab:

1. This Haltered Gown

Very Khaleesi-approved — it's like a combo of her Meereenese queen halter dress and her famous Qartheen blue and gold gown.

2. This Shimmery Caftan

The one caftan to rule them all.

3. This Futuristic Dress

If Blade Runner taught me anything, it's that strong shoulders will be very vogue in the future.

4. This Floaty Pink Gown

All of the princess dreams of your youth made material.

5. This Empire-Waisted Number

Now, this one's the Pride and Prejudice dreams of your youth made material (now all you need is the Mr. Darcy to go along with your couture).

6. This Moody Floral Dress

7. This Sparkly Gown

This one would look right at home at the fast-approaching Emmy Awards (or, you know, in my closet).
