Why Nick Viall Is The Actual Best (Seriously)

by Alice Walker

Can we take a moment to talk about something that might just be a little controversial? Don't worry, I'm not here to dive into politics or religion. No, right now we need to talk about Nick Viall on The Bachelorette. (See? You're already tensing up, I knew it.) Ever since he came back on the scene there has been nothing but controversy surrounding this dude. Sure, he used to proclaim his love for someone else when he was making a run for the heart of Andi Dorfman’s in the not-so-distant past. And, yeah, technically I could see why people would think that he "jumped the line" by joining the show well after it was underway (interrupting a group date in the process). However, I think all of the excellent-for-TV-drama is obfuscating one important fact: Nick is the actual best Bachelorette contestant.

Don't believe me? I don't blame you. After all, you've had multiple seasons to build up a positive opinion (or burning hatred, it all depends on how you felt about Andi's season), but I've got seven solid reasons to prove his worth to you. So, keep on reading — and try and keep an open mind! Because even though plenty of people have been hating on Nick lately, he might actually be your next favorite.

1. Sure, He Could Be Seen As A Player

I know, he was on a different season, and now he's onto his next lady. Still, it's just as possible that he had real feelings for both women. By the time Kaitlyn's season was well underway he had plenty of time since his last rose ceremony and he could have recovered from his heartache since then. So, maybe he has been pursuing two women in a small time span but..

2. He Plays The Game

...that's kind of the way reality TV works, right? It's actually pretty impressive he's managed to use his charms to score his way onto two shows. It wouldn't shock me if he showed up on at least one more season, and I mean that as a compliment!

3. He Bounces Back Fast

We've seen countless examples of his thinking he had "got the girl" just to have the rug pulled out from under him. Does he pout and whine? No. (Well, not for long!) He gets back in there, and gets back in on the action. Making plays, writing songs, and working on his wooing-game.

4. He's Patriotic

I mean, God bless America. Need I say more?

5. He's Sexually Liberated

Most of the time. We haven't forgotten about the "After The Rose" session with Andi... but when Kaitlyn was under fire for getting down with him during a date, he leapt to her defense and spouted some seriously solid opinions on sex:

6. He's Not Afraid To Show Emotion

Like, at all, ever. If he's talking to the other contestants, or telling Kaitlyn how he feels, this man is comfortable opening up.

7. He Has One Seriously Hot Body

Just in case his patriotic reasoning didn't get the point across. I don't mean to imply this is the most important thing in the world... but combined will all of his other (ahem) assets, yeah. It's pretty darn great. Team Nick!
