What Is Austin On ‘BB17’s Wrestling Name?

by Emily Lackey

If you are as big an Austin fan as I am this Big Brother season, you're probably with me on this: This guy can literally do no wrong — yes, not even when he lies to Vanessa, and not even when accusations fly that he is cheating on his girlfriend — and you want to know everything there is to know about him. If this describes you, then keep reading, because I dug up some serious DIRT on Austin’s wrestling past, including his stage name, his nicknames, his signature moves, and some significant controversy surrounding his career.

Oh, yeah. This stuff is about to get good.

First of all, Austin’s wrestling name is Judas Devlin. Sound familiar? That’s because the reality television star has been going by Judas in the Big Brother diary room. Every time he plays for himself or throws someone else under the bus, he dons his hat and grins mischievously. Personally, I have a feeling that this is exactly what his wrestling persona was like. Sweet on the surface but oh-so-backstabby behind closed doors.

To add to my theory here, the rest of the information I dug up on him suggests a similar style of gameplay to what he’s been doing in the house.

Like, the fact that his signature move is called “The Betrayal.” It definitely sounds like his in-the-ring persona matches up with how he’s been playing the game on Big Brother this season. Meanwhile, his nickname is “The Post Modern Phenomenon,” which points to Austin’s love of all things bookish (the guy has a master’s degree in medieval romantic literature, after all).

One other thing you should probably know about Austin (aka, Judas Devlin): he has a pretty strong grasp on how people should be treated. Even though he’s known both in the ring and in the Big Brother house to betray his opponents, he caused a pretty significant controversy in the wrestling world when he accused his wrestling coach, Bill Demott, of bullying the players he trained. You gotta love a guy who sticks up for the mistreated and underdogs.

So it sounds like Austin made as big of a splash in the wrestling world as he has so far in the Big Brother house.

Of course, though, since Austin has since retired and is no longer performing, I guess I’ll just have to keep watching to get all of his gameplay I can stand.
