Alicia Silverstone is known to delight fans with her social media throwbacks to the iconic 1995 teen classic Clueless. She caused an online frenzy when she wished her long-time pal and fellow Clueless actor Paul Rudd a “Happy Birthday” by sharing footage of their characters Cher and Josh. Now, she has turned heads yet again, by recreating one of the film’s iconic scenes: the disastrous date between Cher and Christian (Justin Walker).

Enlisting the help of her pal, designer Christian Siriano, Silverstone reenacted the moment where Cher welcomes Christian into her palatial Beverly Hills home. Upon the advice of her best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash), Cher sets about making the home seem adult and enticing. How? She puts some cookie dough in the oven, with the aim being that a nice aroma a freshly-cooked baked goods will waft through her house. However, Cher ends up burning the sweet treat to cinders.

Christian asks her: “Is something burning?” Which prompts Cher to run to the kitchen, only to discover the charred goods. Christian then blesses us with the iconic line: “Aw, honey, you baked.” With Cher lamenting: “I tried.” Coincidentally, Silverstone and Siriano have a habit of recreating iconic Clueless scenes.

Meanwhile, Silverstone previously sat down with Vogue to talk through some of the movie’s timeless looks, and ended up revealing that the project almost never made it to the screen. “Clueless almost didn’t happen, because the studio thought that no one was going to see it, because it was about a young girl,” she remarked.

For the film’s 25th anniversary, Mona May, the costume designer spoke to Tatler to reveal the backstory of Cher’s beloved yellow plaid suit. May explained “We knew we wanted plaid. The plaid to us was quintessential school girl, an updated Catholic girl uniform, but the question was; what does Cher do with that? She buys Dolce!” The costume department tried suits in blue and red first, before settling on the yellow option. “We were all like, ‘Yes! This is it. She’s a ray of sunshine, she’s the queen,’” May recalled.
