Kanye West and Kim Kardashian may have had their ups and downs in recent months, but the reality star still appreciates the role her ex-husband plays in her life as the dad of her four kids. She paid tribute to the rapper in an Instagram story on Father’s Day, going public with her well wishes. “Thank you for being the best dad to our babies and loving them the way you do!” she wrote. “Happy Father’s Day Ye.”

The story features a photo of West crouching down to help hold up their youngest, Psalm, now 3, and smiling lovingly at him. They’re joined by the ex-couple’s three other kids, North, Saint, and Chicago, who are now 9, 6, and 4 years old, respectively. Kardashian then also shared another photo in a second story, showing West with his arms (and shoulders) full of kids.

While the Kardashians star’s sentiments are sweet, it’s unclear if West will ever actually see her Father’s Day stories. Ye doesn’t currently appear to follow her (he unfollowed her and her family in 2021), and his Instagram has been much quieter since he deleted all his posts in early February. Days prior to that, his social media activity had made it very clear there was tension between them as he wrote about his objections to North being on TikTok.

West was vocal about wanting to reconcile with Kardashian in the past, but his tone changed as her very public relationship with Pete Davidson heated up. In a Feb. 4 Instagram story, she criticized his “constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media” and expressed her wish to “handle all matters regarding our children privately.” More recently, West rapped about the challenges of co-parenting together following their split on the track “True Love,” featuring the late XXXTentacion, and the lyrics may have hinted their strained relationship is improving. While he raps about feeling like the kids are “borrowed,” he does also rap, “Wait, no hard feelings, but these feelings hard though.”

Wherever Kardashian and West stand now, he’s one of the top three dads she celebrated on Father’s Day this year. She also shared a trio of stories featuring her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., along with an emotional message calling him “the best daddy ever” and saying that her kids had “the cutest suggestions” for how she could celebrate with him while he’s “all the way up in heaven.” Stepparent Caitlyn Jenner got another shoutout, in which Kardashian thanked her for “raising us and being the best step dad.”

West also made the cut for Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner’s 2022 Father’s Day photo collage. “Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing fathers in our lives!!!” she wrote, in part, in her Instagram caption. “Thank you for loving our little ones the way you do. They are so lucky to have you as their daddies.”
