With her birthday fast approaching, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is a growing up so fast, with her father Prince Harry revealing that she recently took her first steps. Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and is being raised with her brother Archie in the neighbourhood of Montecito. It appears she is already a California girl through and through, already enjoying playdates with other celebrity tots such as James Corden’s three children, Carey, Max and Charlotte.

Lilibet is currently eighth in line to the throne, behind her brother, father, Princes George and Louis, Princess Charlotte, Prince William, and Prince Charles. Although she’s not known to have met her cousins or extended family yet, it is thought that Lilibet will visit the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June. So, let’s recap on a few things you may want to know ahead of her first visit, including Lilibet’s godparents, her christening plans, and more.

Who Are Lilibet’s Godparents?

Harry and Meghan have been careful to keep key information about their children under wraps. Lilibet’s godparents have not yet been announced, although Oprah Winfrey has confirmed that she is not the godmother. When asked, Winfrey said “I don’t need to be a godmother. I mean, I’m a godmother by default. I’m a neighbour, I’m a friend.” The talk show host is a long-standing confidant of the couple, and they live in the same Montecito neighbourhood.

When Archie was christened in Windsor in July 2019, Megan and Harry didn’t reveal the details of his godparents until nearly six months later. They have been vocal about wanting to raise the children as private citizens, and keeping their personal lives out of the media as much as possible is their way of doing so. However, they did eventually share that his godparents are both close family friends of Prince Harry. Godmother Tiggy Pettifer is actually the prince’s former nanny, while godfather Mark Dyer was an equerry (or senior attendant) of Prince Charles.

Has Lilibet Been Christened?

The royal couple have yet to make an official announcement about a christening for their youngest child, but Lilibet is understood not to have been christened yet. Plans for Lilibet’s christening are proving a little complicated, but it’s thought that Prince Harry and Meghan were hoping the christening could take place in St George’s Chapel where they themselves got married in 2018.

Archie was christened in Windsor Chapel on 6th July 2019, two months after his birth. The ceremony was private, with just a few official photos released afterwards.

What Is Lilibet’s Full Name?

Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is named after her grandmother and great-grandmother. The late Princess Diana inspired her middle name, but her unusual first name is actually a sweet tribute to Her Majesty the Queen. Apparently when Queen Elizabeth was a young girl, she was unable to pronounce her own name. She could only say ‘Lilibet’ and this then became her family nickname. Tatler noted that her grandfather, King George V, was the first to start calling her by the nickname, and then the rest of the family followed suit.
